Terms of Service

These terms apply to everyone who reads or uses TikTalk. By creating an account or posting, you accept them.

TikTalk is an online discussion community for Northern Ireland, operated from Northern Ireland and governed by the law of Northern Ireland. Last updated: August 2026.

1. Who can use TikTalk

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You need a username and password — an email address is optional and only used for account recovery. One person should not operate multiple accounts to evade moderation.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your password and for everything posted from your account. Keep your password private. Usernames that impersonate TikTalk staff, system accounts, other members, businesses or public figures are not permitted and are blocked automatically.

You can change your profile details and delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Username changes require TikTalk+ and are limited to once every 30 days.

3. Content you post

These terms cover everything you submit: forum discussions, replies and comments, uploaded images and videos, Live Community Chat messages, private messages, your username and profile information (including avatar and cover image), reactions, saved items and reports you send to staff.

You keep ownership of your own content. By posting it, you grant TikTalk a non-exclusive licence to store, display and distribute it on the site so the community can see it. You confirm you have the right to post it, including any media featuring other people.

Public content is visible to anyone who visits TikTalk, including people who are not signed in. Private messages are visible to you, the recipient, and staff only where required for a moderation, safety or legal reason.

4. Acceptable use — what is prohibited

TikTalk is meant to be lively. Disagreement, strong opinions, banter, humour, sarcasm and robust debate are all welcome. What is not allowed:

  • Illegal content, or content promoting terrorism or paramilitary activity
  • Threats of violence, including credible threats against a person or group
  • Harassment, bullying and targeted abuse or pile-ons
  • Hate speech, including sectarian abuse and attacks based on religion, community background, nationality, race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age
  • Doxxing — publishing private personal information about anyone
  • Impersonating another member, a creator, a business, a public figure or staff
  • Spam, engagement farming, scams and fraud
  • Malicious links, phishing links or malware
  • Sexual exploitation content and non-consensual intimate images
  • Any content sexualising or exploiting minors — this results in immediate permanent removal and may be reported to the authorities
  • Encouraging or assisting illegal activity
  • Repeated attempts to evade moderation, restrictions or a ban

The full community rules are in the Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms.

5. Moderation, restrictions and bans

Moderators and admins may hide or remove content, edit or lock discussions, pin discussions, restrict media, issue warnings, suspend posting, or permanently ban an account. Moderation actions are logged.

A banned account may still sign in and read public content, but cannot create discussions, reply, post in Live Chat, send private messages, or take other participation actions. Rate limits and duplicate-content checks apply to everyone.

If you believe a decision was wrong, ask for a review through Contact Support rather than reposting the content. We aim to review appeals, but we do not guarantee a response time.

6. Reporting

Every discussion, reply, Live Chat message and member profile has a Report option that sends the content straight to the staff moderation queue. Site-wide problems can be raised through Report a Problem. Reports are visible to staff only.

7. TikTalk+

TikTalk+ is an optional £2 one-off payment. It is not a subscription, nothing recurs and no card is charged again. Under the current product setup the payment unlocks TikTalk+ permanently on your account.

TikTalk+ currently unlocks editing and deleting your own discussions and replies, username changes (once every 30 days) and additional profile options. Free accounts can still read, post, reply, use Live Chat and send private messages.

Payment is taken by Stripe; TikTalk never sees or stores your card details. Your entitlement is granted only after Stripe confirms the payment. TikTalk+ is a digital unlock available immediately, so refunds are at our discretion — contact support if something went wrong with your payment. Moderators and admins receive the same permissions through their role and do not need to pay.

8. Availability and changes

TikTalk is provided as-is. Features may change, and the site may be unavailable for maintenance or technical reasons. We may update these terms; continuing to use TikTalk after an update means you accept the revised terms.

9. Liability

Content on TikTalk is posted by members and does not represent the views of TikTalk. We are not liable for member content, for loss arising from your use of the site, or for content you choose to share with others. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
